I am interested in purchasing a bay leaf tree and have found a few on line. Since I live in zone 5 I will need to keep it inside for the winter, then move outside in the spring. Has anyone grown one of these? I thought it would be nice to have fresh bay leaves for cooking.

Bill has one. But he is the only member that I know of who has one.

With as big as those trees get you'll be able to keep all of us in bay leaves. lol.

mrw, are you sure you want to use fresh bay leaves? You mean use them green?
Green bay leaves are really awful-bay is supposed to be dry before use.
If I'm wrong, I'll bet lotsa posters will come on and correct me....

I bought my mom a bay laurel tree a few years ago. She lives in Southern Utah where the winters are too cold for it so she gorws it in the house. It is doing wonderful for her!

I also do use fresh bay leaves as well as dried and personally enjoy both. I have heard before that some people prefer not to use fresh off the tree leaves and dry them first.
