The photos a little fuzzy, but it looks like a Schefflera, sometimes called an umbrella tree.
Bright light and a little bit of sun is ok. Water well when the soil has had a chance to dry out first. Feed only in the spring and summer months if healthy with half strength fertilizer every once in a while.
My Schefflera was a rescue also....they are great plants! You can cut them back and stick the cuttings in the pot and they will root and make it all bushy! Best of luck with it! Nice rescue!!
I learned that here, Dianna- I think it was one of my first posts...... Mine had 2 "leggy" parts and the leaves were at the tops- I found out I could root them so easily and started "whacking away" Now it is nice and full and getting better every day!
thanks all! now i know what it is and how to take care of it! it was so dried out when i brought it home, [dont like wet feet] i gave it a good watering too! well i know not to do that again! the photos a little fuzzy! i gotta new dig-camra and still cant take good pics!
sibyl, by wet feet i meant don't let it sit in really soggy soil...
a good solid watering is always in order (for any plant). for this one in particular, let the soil dry out a bit before watering again (for that sized pot, i'd say when the soil is dry about an inch and a half down).
