Despite my problems with other veggies I can grow onions and potatoes. I just harvested my onion crop yesterday, along with shallots. I brushed them all off and then put them on improvised drying racks (my bean tower and pea fences). I had one really jumbo onion I wanted to post a picture of. Also any storing tips will be appreciated since I have so many onions this year it will take me a while to use them all.
I got my seedlings from Territorial Seed Company- it was an onion collection.

once they have dried out properly i tie them up in bunches, or get a onion sack from the market.
then store in a cool dry place.
make sure all onions being stored a in good condition ie no cuts or mould.
check on them occasionally

Brown onions store really well. The red ones don't last as long. Maybe a few months depending on your storage area. If it's cool, dark and dry they'll last longer but make sure they are well dried first. Air circulation around them is important, thus the suggestion of using an onion sack or hanging them. Great crop. Well done.

Thanks! So how many days do most people dry their onions before storing? We have had really nice weather Sat, Sun, today and tomorrow, but rain forecasted Tuesday night/Wed. Should I bring them in tomorrow?

Yeah i'd keep the rain off them. Dry until the outer skins are really crisp. I think it's supposed to be best to take off the roots too. Not sure. Just make sure they have good circulation around them though and you'll be OK. Can't do much about humid weather. That's what brings mine undone...
