Okay, here's another question...

We have a fireplace that sees a lot of use in the winter. I would consider it to be medium-to-low light, depending on what part of the mantle - one side is near a medium/large window and a small window, the other side is near a small window. Big window has Western exposure, smalls have Northern.

Suggestions for plants to go on top, keeping in mind that there's a fire every night? TIA

Sanseveria of varying sorts can deal with both indirect light and dry heat. There are lots of different kinds, from quite tall to quite short, with or without variagation, ...

laugh laugh plant restriction is a place i tend to stay shocked

there are so many varieties that you might end up with a facination just for them!
