Very pretty. Looks like you have them under control.

Your leaves aren't as HOLEY as mine are. That first blue one is great and with blue on the background. Really brings out the color. I have alot of grasshoppers and katydids eating holes. Hopefuly the praying mantis I found there is taking care of that. Probably too late tho.

Great pix as usual, Alan. My MG's are finally starting to bloom now that it has gotten cooler. I grew the Heavenly Blue for several years and they reseeded nicely. However, now all that shows up is a lovely pink and a solid white. I guess they eventually reverted??? Too weird! Or the birds blessed me with different colors.

I would be interested to know which image editing program you use. I use good ol' Irfanview, the free version of FXfoto, occasionally PSP v7 and a couple of others. Seems like each program has one or two features I prefer but no one program has all of them. lol! It might help if I would take the time to learn one completely but that's too much like work.

Rosie, I use Adobe Photo Deluxe. I don't remember where I even got the software...I think it was free with my old computer. I like it because it's very easy to use, but I suspect there are much better programs out there now.

Thanks, Alan...I had that on my old computer and had completely forgotten about it. They've discontinued support for Photo Deluxe or I would download a copy of it. I tried a "free trial" of their newer PhotoShop version and found it a little more than I needed.

Unfortunately, I don't know the name. I saw it at our University Gardens last year and took some seeds. They also had a pink one similar but with variegated foliage.

The vivid blue with white edging MG is probably Maisugata Japanese Morning Glory. Gorgeous, aren't they?

This one sports other types& is common to get this striped one as well.

It stays open almost all day& the one I'm growing from the striped seed pod is actually in more sun now& will stay open almost all day.

Its a ipomoea nil cultiver.my flowers have ranged 5-6 inches across.I love its got variegated foliage.

Those are beautiful, I especially like the last one. I've always loved morning glories so I planted 3 packages of crimson red morning glories one year and they went "insane" - I told my husband to kill me if I ever said I was going to plant morning glories again! I wish I could keep them under control enough to grow them!

the 3rd picture is the original flower& 1st bloom.

The striped sport ones.I tied yarn on those,but I grew one of the striped pods out and got the 1st flower.But have read that its 'normal' for it to shoot them striped beautys.I just couldn't believe text...........I had to grow a seed& see was pretty much like original,but a lil blotchy& all the flowers that have bloomed from that 1 lone seed have looked that way.I'd have to count but believe have had about 9 flowers.
So comfrey,you'd get mostly flowers like the 3rd,but would get some sports as well.some days is sports only or a mix of both.I kinda preferred the sport& the batch that I DIDN'T grow this year has a purple flecked baggie to grow....so who knows?That may be it.

I also have this lost tagged one.
I'm not 100% sure....but believe its Heian Kagayaki JMG.I re grew this one cause was in the worst soil,worse spot& had only gotton 2 blooms.So I crossed fingers& chose better& hopefully will get some more seeds.It has large flowers& is verigated.

Their are some with striped/streaked flowers with variegated foliage,that will bloom from seed like that. Benigasuri does but its pink with the white streaks so does not stand out as much& has variegated foliage as well.1 other I grew (thats mislabled...)wisteria tie-dye


Its speckled flowers& don't set seed well.

Rainie~Grow your MGs in hanging baskets.you can control them somewhat better.I grow my JMG in hanging baskets so can control them from cross pollinateing easier.I grew 2 in ground& will add 2 more inground to let run wilde.(blue blizzrd is a ground candidate for next year)
