I love pond pictures!

That is so pretty!

That is a fresh water pond. Fresh water piped from a spring in the hillside going in 24/7 and then going out to water trees. The gray pipe in the top of the second pic is where the water comes in. We usually disguise the pipe. The tennis ball in the first pic is my dog's. Teddy loves to throw stuff in the water.

Every time I put in water hyacinthes the racoons fish it out and eat it. They fish for the fish on occasion, also.

Yeah, We buy feeder fish 10/a buck and there are lot's of babies down there. it was originally four foot deep but when we redid it, we only have it three ft now. Used to have enough water coming down to have three waterfalls off the cliffs in back, too. but the water has slowed down.

Ok....stupid question: The water that drains off the pond...how do you keep the fish from draining away too?

In that last pic there is a green tennis ball. A little to the left of that is a clump of leaves that fell into the pond. (I should have cleaned it up before taking the pic, maybe?) That is where the outlet is. It is a vertical pipe that the water flows into as fast as it comes in the other side. So it's never more than an eighth inch deep over the lip of the pipe. and we put a rock over that mostly to disguise it. The water goes to a hose that we move from tree to tree down the hill. We have a few hundred trees in our semi-desert location.
I don't think we have lost any fish that way. Just fishing raccoons and owls.

We put that pond in when I was pregnant with Jonni, so it's 15 years old. I'm tearing up the area next to the pond for my new seabed garden.
After 15 years, I deserve a change, right?
And bathtub water features are cool.
I once saw an old wooden school teacher type desk that was set up as a water feature. The water cascaded from drawer to drawer. The drawers were lined and the desk was painted up antiqued colorful with ceramic frogs and things. I've had my eye out for old desks ever since. Don't know where I would put it but.......
