HI, I have an area that is wet most of the time. It sits right under a major drip area for my drain pipe. And the grass grows well there, but it looks bad. So I want to put in some nice plants to make it look organized and neat.
Is it in the sun or shade?
Sun: Cardinal flower (lobelia), Turtle Head (chelone), Goldenstar (chrysogonum), Joe Pye Weed (eupatorium), Queen of the Prarie (filipendula), Swamp Mallow (hibiscus), Japanese Iris, Siberian Iris, Knotweed (polygonum)
Shade: Bugbane (cimicifuga), Willow Gentian (gentiana), Golden Ray (ligularia), Mazus
If it's mostly shady and big enough of an area how about a hydrangea?
If it's sun - try zebra grass or cannas - mine love the water. My daylilies also do well in my swampy wet areas.
I have hostas that do great in the wet shady parts of my yard as well. We have horrible drainage - so lots of my yard stays wet.
Good luck!
