Does anyone grow the green beans called filet beans?
I want to try them this spring. Hafta be in a big tub, and would do OK, but what about the taste? As good as the catalogs say?

are they the same as french beans?

Yes, I think so. They sure sound good from the descriptions.
I'm also wondering how people cook them.

they are good, and they crop realy well.
i find they crop best if you pick the beans every other day.
i think i prefer them to runner beans.
also try to pick a stringless type

HI Deborah I grew some in large tubs, and supported them with a wig wam of canes. very succesfully. OH! Im still doing that research.

How did you cook the beans?

I would point you right toward bush beans if you are cramped for space. Trust me, there is nothing easier than a bush bean plant. It's hard to believe how many snap beans you can harvest from bush bean plants shoe-horned into blank spots in the planters and garden. Being able to plant about 9 per square foot makes shoe-horn the right word!

This past year I planted royal burgandy and they hardly ever made it into the house! The kids and I were eating them right off the vine like crunchy candy. Blue lake and contender are good green snap bush beans that I can recommend as well.

Are bush beans the filet beans?
My peas never make it into the house-talk about utterly delicious-scarfed down on the spot !

Oops, I should have said, "I don't know of filet beans, but I would point you right toward bush beans if you are cramped for space."

That said, there are filet bush beans available.

Deborah, I plant blue lake. I cook them with a beef boullion cube. Yummy.
