I feel your pain. It has been an off year for zukes for me as well. Hard to say exactly what is wrong without a pic.

Consider harvesting your zukes while they are small and still have the flower on them. They will at least be good for salads or quick snack fresh eating. This is what I've been doing with my zukes that have all been under-performing. Hope that helps!

i'm going on friends & word of mouth here, but arent normal zukes 8" or longer when ready to harvest?

I think 4-6" are probably the best tasting, but baby zukes can be packed full of flavor as well. If they are spoiling at a larger size, why not eat them while still small and still tasty?

Sorry to hear your troubles. I have just the opposite. My 2 plants are WAY TOO BIG. Volenteers on a compost pile and they are (no kidding) over 3 feet tall and over 8 feet in diameter. Spitting out zukes. got as many this year as last year and then I had 20 plants.

I`ll see about posting a pic of my monster Zuke plants.

I know what your talking greenthumb. Mine are 3 ft tall and almost 8 ft across too.
I pick them as fast as they grow, from flowering to picking takes a total of 5 days!!
they are 10in. to a 1ft when I pick them and thats in 5 days!! I'm sure they would be as big as my leg if I ignored them for over a week....lol
If you want to see what I mean go HERE . I will be adding more pictures soon clp
