I regularly keep my Marigolds from year to year and reseed them by broadcasting the seed(dried up flower) after the last frost. Can I do the same with Blackeyed Susans?

from what I know they will re-seed themselves. They take two years to bloom, so the first year, they will sprout leaves and they will bloom year 2. I remember reading someone's post saying that they let their's reseed themselves

Yep, you can..
Just take the dead flower head and walk it
over to the place you want it and sprinkle...

*I might work up the soil and get rid of anything that wouldn't allow the seed to touch the bare soil (like if theres weeds) that way you'd have the best chance of having them sprout.*

Also those plants do have a tendancy to reseed them selves, by wind, birds, and other methods, just like when the dried stalk falls over, it'll land the length of the dried stem is...

AHHH!!! so THAT'S why i got a bunch of leaves that kind of looked like the black-eyed susan leaves but got no flowers!!!

darn!! i wish i'd known that!!! i pulled more than a few of them up thinking they were some weird kind of weeds.

throwin' here and ther... I LOVE BES's!!!

Joclyn, did that exact same thing with my coneflower... 'course, I didn't really want coneflower all over the place either, but I could have shared those yearlings if I'd known. Oh well. We live and learn.
