I went out and bought 2 azaleas last spring and installed them ina new garden area of my yard. They were doing well, and after a month or so I fed them some azalea food. They were already in bloom from the store so the blooms faded relatively quickly and they have been doing some decent growing since. Well, a couple days ago, being in the fall season, I fed them again, and no more than the directions on the food bag said. It didn't rain like I expected it to so I went out the next day to water them some so the food would be absorbed. Yesterday it rained some more, and I looked out there today and the leaves have very quickly turned yellowish. They were a nice healthy green before I fed and watered.

I hate to think that I just killed my plant somehow and I was wondering if anyone had any advice or if turning colors was normal for this time of year. The other azalea, about 5 feet away, was fed and watered similarly and is doing fine (as of today, at least). I think I'm in around zone 5b to 6a. Dayton, Ohio.

Yes, leaves yellowing and dying off is common
for fall time...

If the leaves stay yellow into spring, they probably have an iron deficiency. You can buy liquid iron suppliments at Lowe's, etc. and just follow the directions. I've had to give some of mine iron for the same reason.
