Suet Cakes - January 12th, 2005 at 05:01 AM
I was just making my third batch of suet cakes today for my bird friends, and remembered this page that I had posted a loooong time ago.
So, I dug this link out of the "Recipe" archive to remind everyone to feed the birds!
Suet Cakes
In place of the suet in the recipes, I use shortening and bacon grease. And, I don't follow the recipes, they just gave me ideas to start with. I put all my stale bread, leftover rolls, etc. in the chopper thingy and add them to my cakes. Just whatever I have on hand. A handful of oatmeal, cornbread, some cooked rice is good, (and it holds the cakes together really well).
