HI wavey Greg it sounds like your iris got to much water or has a pest of some sort look at the root system for small holes if there are some you have insects eating the rizomes. root system.but more than likey its from over watering.it can take iris 2 to 3 years to produce a lot of blooms they also like full sun and do not like to be planted very deep plant them just below the soil barely cover them.heres a photo of some of my iris this year there 3 year old plants.

Yep, I learned that the hard way, with
planting too deep..

Also, no mulch or compost on top of the
rhisome.....

OHHHHHH You better dig the plant up! I have spent the past 15 years growing iris, seen this a few times! Do the following. I currently have 30,000 iris...

**Check all plants for brown spots, soft bulbs, rotted bulbs, and bugs chewing the bulbs**

1) Dig the plant and probably the plants around it.

2) cut the folliage into a fan/upsidown V shape. Also cut all bug's/rot out of the bulbs. Make sure that all of the rotted and spotted foliage is cut from the plant!

3) Take a 5 gallon pail and mix water and bleach 10/1. THIS IS CRITICAL! IT NEEDS TO BE DONE!

4) Now soak the trimmed plants in the solution. Also, soak all loose bulbs in this. I soak for 1-2 days.

5) DO NOT allow the folliage and rotted pieces to sit around! It can spread spores and bugs, it must be burnt! I made that mistake in my early years, so I have to warn everyone about that! I burn down wind from all possible iris and it's done before the day is over.

*** I do need help with one thing. Can anyone tell me how to make the seeds sprout faster? I've only gotten 2 plants to grow... I had a TON of seeds but every year my dad seeks things out and burns them. Not this year though. I just want to know how to get these things to grow faster.

Growing by bulb is all too easy... my plants that I've used my growth formula on spread from one plant to 15-35 plants in three years!!!

I have a bunch of iris listed on Ebay right now.
