I like to have container plants around the patio and was wondering if there are any special types that will survive (new jersey) winters and come back if I plant them in big containers .. Any suggestions would be appreciated..

hi tara and welcome here since it is your first post.

at the end of august,beg of sept. why don t you put your container pots inside,say if you have a garage or a spare room or just plain corners where it could be use as decoration during the winter and at the same time you could separate some of them and next summer maybe you could have twice as much.

me i put them for the winter in my garage with neon lights and fans for aeration,heat and th ey ll be o k.

sorry,as for a special type of flower in our winter,don t know.why don t you try puting silk flowers in your pots and leave it on the patio for winter.

Tara-N, I have a Weeping Weiglia(sp?) bush, weeping pussy willow tree and a peegee Hydrangea tree in pots on my deck. I leave them there year round. I think this will be their 3rd or 4th winter. It gets pretty cold here in Kansas, too. Hope that helps-Aunt B
