What is the best time to divide my ferns? I would like to transplant some to a new location. I'm not sure what kind they are. I have read both spring and late fall...suggestions?
From what I know your reading is right on target! Just remember they are shade loving plants and the new plants will need time to adjust. I do mine in spring. In the fall I just mark the ones I want to split because under the snow they lose all their mass and you forget how big they were.
