Hi Kristen,

I have dwarf peaches and nectarines...in double pots. Please check this link to help you choose the right Peach tree. Many varieties are self-pollenizer [except pollen- sterile 'J.H.Hale], though it won't hurt to have a second peach tree. Here is a tip from the Sunset Western Garden Book:
Quote
If you don't have any space for another tree. you can plant 3 or 4 varieties in a single hole. Prune the new bare-root trees so sthat each retains just one primary branch-and point those branches outward as you plant the trees in the hole.

Weezie, good luck on the cold tolerant peaches. I've been working my 4 trees for almost 5 years now and finally got them Perfect. Last fall the trees were just loaded with buds for this years crop and I was completely stoked, looking forward to eating fresh juicy peaches until my tummy hurt.
wellll.... spring arrived and everything in the orchard flowered... except the peaches. So I did some research and found that peaches require a pretty specific number of "chill units" that they must accumulate during dormancy. Not enough units = no fruit. Too many units also = no fruit.
I'll keep trying though cuz I sure love peaches.
