Can someone please explain this to me? (see below)
Describe 'callous' please.
Thank You!

"Jade leaves can also be used to create a clone, but this method will take much longer before you have a specimen size plant. Leaves will take only a few days to callous, after which you simply insert the base of the leaf slightly into lightly moistened potting soil or rooting medium."

Teresa,

I used to do this all the time with my Grandmother's Jade. It just means to let them dry out a bit, but I have found that just taking some and putting them in soil works equally as well. Hope that helps.

Thank You!
I brought my Mom's jade plant home this week to put it in a bigger planter for her and I wanted to try this.
Thanks Again!

I have never had any luck with using leaves to grow a new Jade plant, even after I have let it dry out. I have also tried putting them down in the dirt all covered up and that doesn't work either. Any advice as to what I may be doing wrong?

Have you tried using a rooting hormone to help get them started? Then just place the end of the leaf in the dirt and do't let it dry out too much. Other than that, I cannot think of advice to give you as all I ever did was stick it in dirt.

Yep best way is to cut off a stem and stick it in damp soil until it roots. The leaves for me will calous and then produce little tiny jade plants where the leaf separated from the plant but they won't get roots for me so once they use up the nutrients in the leaf they die. don't know how to fix that.
