Hi,
When visiting my family in South Carolina, I saw and loved Lantana. Will it grow in Delaware and will it attract hummingbirds?
Also, I bought trumpet vines to grow up hummingbird feeders. In this forum I have read that they are invasive and grow underground. Have I made a big mistake?

Lantana should grow up there. You would have to treat it like an annual. They produce seeds so you should only have to buy a plant once.
They have some beautiful ones,I've seen yellow,purple,white and multi-colored. They grow profusely in full sun. Butterflies LOVE them!
Trumpets can be invasive. I deal with it by simply cutting any shoots that come up where I don't want it. I haven't had a problem with it at all. Hummingbirds LOVE them!

I planted Lantana this summer and love it but it's an annual in my zone. How do I collect and store the seeds?

Lantana is annual here too. Last year mine got gigantic.

Most Lantana will get a round seed pod where the flower cluster dies. Let it darken,dry it and you're good to go!

I have two lantana plants that are at least 5 years old now. Before the first frost (I'm in Massachusetts) I bring them indoors with the geraniums and treat them much the same way. I cut them way back and water sparingly. By the end of the winter they look horrible, but after a few weeks of spring sunshine outdoors they get lots of new growth and start to thrive again. Right now they are covered with golden flowers that the bees and butterflies enjoy. TONY

Welcome! I'm in PA too, and I think if you look in a Franks, or Home depot, you should be able to find lantana.

It is a gorgeous plant! I had some golden ones, I planted outside....they died, but my neighbor this year has lantana in hanging baskets, pink and gorgeous. Absolutely one of the nicer hanging arrangements that seem to look great all summer!
