Last year I harvested some 4 o'clock seeds from a visit to Tennessee, and planted them here in Florida. The plants are very sturdy and full of blooms- none of which ever open! They get plenty of sun- no insect or disease problems- I can use my fingers to "tease" the blooms open, but they will not on their own. They are a beautiful American Rose Red color- really unusual-(I don't care for the usual yellow, pink, etc)Any suggestions?

I can't think of WHY they aren't opening.mine open in afternoons that are in shaded area my others open around 7:30-8pm...thats for south TX mine seem to be starting to bloom about end of may begining of june.I do see flowers ready not opening for a bit before they do open, but would think your season would be ahead of mine.I've never fertilized& have just planted seeds of red this year not up too blooming size yet.I have fushia yellows mass planted and some broken colors and some white& some pink ones at one spot.I'm still working on mass movement through rest of the yard.Think I had 11 hummers last night.really kewl.
