A friend of mine just bought a new house and wants to know the best way to more his clematis over there. He has one that is just beautiful and doesn't want to leave it behind. Any suggestions? It is still getting down into the 20's at night here and up in the 60's & 70's (some are only in the 30's yet!) during the day. Another question is to whether he sould wait a little longer until is is warmer. We are in Zone 4

Yeah, he is just moving across town.

The plant will go through less stress and shock if it is moved now, rather than after the weather warms up and it begins to produce new growth...

Hi Hdsporty,

Great link from Bill. Here's another site specifically for moving a large clematis.

And here's how to plant it under 'New Plants'.
