If a piece of Ivy hedera is cut and put into water will it root or do they grow fairly fast and prefer to be left alone? I just purchased a small hanging basket one last week and anxious for it to spread idea It's on the front porch shocked

I think they are fairly slow growers. They will root in water(rooting hormone helps)so have fun.

There's something weird about ivy where it'll just sit there and grow reallllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyy slowly... then one day BOOM!! it'll expload with growth for a few weeks, and you won't know what to do with it lol.

That "boom" thing happened to me with a lot of my plants. I found out that I wasn't teasing apart the roots enough when I repotted. Now I tease them apart and use water to wash out some of the soil before I put up.
