Greetings all! Last weekend my husband and I dug a "small french drain" in our backyard along side our garage where it flooded bad in early spring. Unfortunately, now we have another problem. It rained heavily this week and now the water seems to be re-directing to a low spot near the drain, and it's an absolute pond out there right now! This is near the rear of our lawn. The only thing I can think of is either installing a dry creek bed (which I would probably have to hire due to grade, etc.) or putting in a big basin of some sort to hold the excess water.

Does anyone know of any other (easy) options or where in Michigan I could possibly find a basin of some sort, maybe plastic or something?

Thanks for any help,
Melissa

Would a cheap plastic wading pool do? (The $5. WalMart variety?)

You could also try making a water pond with a fountian and some falls. You can get kits at any hardware store like lowes, home depot. they are not too expensive and the can be made to look real atractive. laugh

Thanks for the replies. We have actually had to hire a landscape company to come in with drain tile all the way to the front curb. The inexpensive solutions we were going for would not work since we have so much water back there.
