how can i get rid of moles without harming the bird by using chemicals they are realy bad around foundation of house

I had a mole problem as well...they would dig around the roots of my plants and the plants would die. I lost several plants that way. I tried using nematodes...you can get them over the internet. You mix it up and spray it into the lawn. It kills the grubs that they feed on without harming anything else...kill their source of food and they will leave, right? Well, it didn't work for me. And after losing even more plants I bought mole poison as a last resort...you find an active mole tunnel and drop it into the tunnel....they eat it and die. Sounds cruel, but it worked. Better to kill a few moles than to lose any more of my plants.

I have a mole problem also. Was told that they love the nice tender bulbs and roots in my yard, not only the bugs. Also heard of chewing a piece of juicy fruit gum and putting that carefully in their hole and they can't digest it...does anyone know if this really works??? I think I will give it a shot. My puppy digs, so poisons are out of the questions.... These pesky varmits seem to be the one garden problem I can't fix so far....HELP!!!

I am a new member who lives in Southern California. I have moles that are ruining my yard. I, too, would appreciate tips and suggestions that are dog friendly.

I try to get along with all of my neighbors...... even my moles.... (well...... except for that **** ***** next door. For the most part, the mole population behaves themselves and stays in the woody areas, and we get along just fine (they are great soil cultivators...) Every once in a while they start to vex me though. When that happens, I park my riding lawnmower over their tunnels, blade engaged, and let it run full steam for about 15 minutes, and the noise drives them away...... (hmmmmmm..... right next door?) Mole's hearing is so sensitive that loud noises alone are enough to kill them. They usually prefer a hasty retreat!

Doesn't Castor Bean make them go away too!!

Castor bean is highly toxic to dogs tho! I have heard that every part of it is toxic.
