I recently bought a japanese maple that i thought was two trees, but upon further inspection found it to be one baby tree with a branch that had been sliced off and put into the same soil. Is there any way I can promote root growth on the branch that had been sliced off? It's not droopy, or looking like its dying, I'd like to know if I can save the branch to become it's own tree. And as for the main tree, is there anything I must do to protect the section of it's trunk that is now bare of bark from the missing branch? I was a sucker when I saw this tree, it was reduced, and I thought maybe I could save it. The main tree also looks to bee alert and healthy. Thanks to all who reply!! :rolleyes:

I would just dip the end into some rooting hormone powder (follow the label directions) and stick it in a pot. Good luck!
