Im somewhat new on gardening...i just started my first plant last 3 weeks ago which was a Gloriosa Daisy and it seems to be growing well...i started on marigolds and next week and when i bought the packet the seeds look like small straws and i was wondering how to plant it. It has a dark bottom and a spikey top. Should i plant the whole thing or should i leave one of the tips poking out? confused

Marigolds seeds are nearly bullet proof. There's not much you can do to not make them grow! Put the little seeds flat to the surface of your growing medium. Barely cover them, but make sure they are covered, just barely, and stay covered. Put 3 to a clump. After a few weeks, leave the strongest of the 3; snip the other 2 away (as in gone). The only problem I've ever had with mature plants is beatles. Sneak right up on you, and poof, plants are gone in 2 weeks.
