I'm new here and have alot of questions. I want to build a pergola, any ideas on what to use for a base besides concrete? also how big does a ninebark bush get? and have any of you had any luck with a 5 in 1 apple tree? I've a million more but i'll leave you with a few for now. thanks in advance.

Do you know which variety of Ninebark you have? Physocarpus capitatus (native to the northwest mountains) grows to eight feet. Rocky Mountain Ninebark (P. monogynus) and Dwarf Ninebark (P. opulifolius) each grow to 3-4 feet.
5 in 1 apple trees are awesome... They are as easy as any other apple tree I've grown... they just don't fit my budget!
I don't know what to suggest for your footings other than concrete or concrete pier blocks...
