hi all, well from the bottom of my hart here it is:

take 1 potato ,boil it,mash it(no butter,nothing).

put it in a bowl big enough to old just about a whole pack of powdered sugar.

start slowly puting half a pack of powdered sugar in with the tato, mix till it makes like a dough(better to use your hands) add powdered sugar till dough holds.

roll dough like you would for a pie.(i personally roll it on waxed paper)

take smooth peanut butter and spread a thick layer on dough.roll and put in waxed paper to put in fridge at least 30-40 minutes.

take out of fridge and slice it.

eat and listen closely, you can almost hear your arteries harden.

if you have trouble at first i can make some and send it to you,so you know what it s suppose to taste like.

good luck to all chef!

btw: hi mike, where does your sister in law come from,i m happy someone knows about it and suprise at the same time.was that a familly recepe for her also, tell her i say hi to the tato candy lady. muggs

Merme, You said "puting half a pack of powdered sugar in with the tato" how big of a pack? I'd end up putting a 5lb bag in or something crazy wink

hi Mary,

it s a 1kg. pack

1kg=2.2pounds.

but as i made mistake the first time i made it ,a long time ago, i found out that there was 2 ways you could correct the mistake of puting too much sugar...

1..if too much just put 1 tsp.water in it ,

2...you can always boil 1 more tato ,smash it and add it.

those ways will make you more rolls but you can freeze it so it s o k.

good luck!

I tried it and it was runny. I added more sugar and some flour and finally got it to thicken up a littlem but it was good.

flw flw Maxi & Potato Candy! flw flw

Francine, the kid came home from summer camp today and was so happy to discover that you'd sent him some of YOUR potato candy! I don't think he quite believed me about it after our attempt.

He tasted it and yelled "Now THIS is real candy!" and went skipping happily off to play, a chunk in his hand.

Then he came back to tell me "See, Mommy, what happens when you do it the RIGHT way with ONE potato and not TWO potato or more?!"

He thinks you are magic, Francine.

Thanks again!

What if you microwave a potato instead of boil it? I have to look to see if you peel the tater before you boil it. Sounds strange to me. How much candy does this make? I love peanut butter. Maybe I would just make half a batch since 2 lb. of powdered sugar seems like it would make a lot.
Have you ever tried freezing it? Probably not, if it is really yummy, since it would be all gone before you got it frozen.
