Six weeks old...Mountain Cur. (squirrel dog)

Andy dumped him on me today.
His brother breeds them, and gave him this one.
...so I have another dog to take care of that I really don't want.
I don't want to get attached to another dog...ever.

But Brennan was thrilled when Rachel told him I had a puppy.

He is so little...a teeny, tiny little thing right now.

I asked Andy what his name was, and he said he didn't have a name.
So, I named him Blue...because he is so grey he looks blue, and his eyes are blue...so he is "BLUE"!

Perfect name Cindy. Thank you for introducing him.
Posted By: afgreyparrot Re: Blue - February 17th, 2007 at 04:54 AM
He lived in a pet crate that was about 14"x8".
It was so little..... ters
He couldn't even hardly turn around in it.
Lola's travel cage (where he is sleeping right now) is like a mansion compared to where he was before.
But, I also have a place for him in the hallway...so when he comes out of his crate (the door is open) he has about a 4' square area to eat, etc....I'll get a pic of it tomorrow.

I am so not looking forward to housebreaking a puppy. frown

But Brennan will love him.....he wants a puppy so bad.

Ummmmmmmmmm dumb question?????????
Aren't puppies eyes always blue when they're born but when the mature they go brown??
What happens when he's not blue anymore?????
Just curious....

I thought the same thing, Weezie... laugh laugh laugh

But since he is so grey he LOOKS blue...then I guess Blue is still a good name.

He's killing me.....I was outside in 6 degree snow this morning at 5am with nothing on but a t-shirt...trying to get him to go to the bathroom.
...not liking this "non-housebroken" puppy situation...but he sure is a sweet little thing. eek

I'm so scared if I don't keep him penned up he will get hurt...I have about 15 brugmansias, all over the house... frown ...no place to put them where he can't get to them. So, he has to stay penned up for now at the end of the hallway.

Cindy his name fits him to a T. Not all dogs eyes are always blue when grown had some catawela's (sp) they had one blue eye and one brown eye. He is so pretty. And I know you were in love with him on your first post as it showed through your typing. laugh thumbup

Thorn...I am BLUE my own bad self...from trying to housebreak a 6 week old dog...when there is snow on the ground...and it is cold outside. eek
Posted By: Thornius Re: Blue - February 18th, 2007 at 01:43 AM
We got one inch this morning, then most of it melted, now it is starting to stick again. I had to go to the ER to get some more pain med for my Shingles and when I got out it was snowing like crazy and started to get whitely frosted again.

OMG, blue is the cutest little puppy!

You love him--you know it...who could pass up a little face like that?

Is he playful? Shy?

Very, very cute! flw

AAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!
How big will he get?
When my landlord got her dog as a puppy she was 'penned' in the kitchen & hall. Now she's all grown up and wont go in the one room that had lots of puppy dangers(maybe her sewing/knitting room Duh ) cause thats where the gate used to be.

What a sweet little baby! I want a Mountain Curr for my next dog. If you look at the info online, they are blessed with the best health of all the dog breeds and live the longest. I bet he has already stolen the rest of your heart laugh

Cindy,
I know just what you mean about not wanting to love and lose another pet. Then there are the vet bills.

We'll leave this one to Shaekspeare -- Tis better to have loved and lost then not to love at all. (or something like that and by someone famous like Shakespeare laugh

Someone has to love Blue - guess what -- It's you!!!

Hey, BTW The color gray on chow chow is defined as Blue.... A gray colored chow is s blue chow. so, puppy is a blue dog!!

I love him!

We tried to get a another. Partly, so I don't face the sadness of losing my Mickey alone. Mickey is our goofy dog now. I'll be lost with out him. The darn rescue agency where we picked the new dog were awful, mean and dismissive!
I got my heartbroken over a dog I only saw a picture of.

Very playful...and unfortunately his owner played very rough with him, so all he knows is roughness. He will lunge at my face and bite, because that's the only way he's been played with...biting hands constantly.

Probably 40 pounds, give or take a few.

I hope you can get that under control soon, Cindy! You don't want to end up with him in Brennan's face (or anyone else's) at full grown and on a rampage.

Have you ever watched "The Dog Whisperer" on National Geographic? He works with all sorts of bad behaviour on dogs. I have learned a lot from watching and reading his book and am practicing on Angel.

No...never seen it.

I'm hoping that since he is only 6 or 7 weeks old he will get over that kind of behavior easy...and turn into a normal puppy.

This is what I have to endure constantly...
[Linked Image]
...I drag him from room to room like this.

...and have to put up with his "puppy chewing"...on everything.
[Linked Image]

He takes everything behind Lola's chair...
.....that is where he keeps his "stash"! laugh

Cindy, that pup is simply adorable!
Posted By: hisgal2 Re: Blue - February 26th, 2007 at 07:53 PM
Cindy, the biting and lungeing might just be his play...like normal. Kina was the same way and was never played with roughly. She was a hand chewer like you wouldn't believe!!! As for the house breaking, the pet stores have "pee-pads" for house breaking now. They work great! Our puppies are being kennel trained and they love their kennel. We call it "home" so when we have to go out, we tell them to go home and they go right in the kennel....then they get a treat. Oh...and when they play together, they bite and chew on each other. it's just how puppies play. they are learning dominence through that.

Blue is soooo pretty. Is he all floppy and uncoordinated like ours were??

I'm not sure that they are born with blue eyes tho. Malamutes are born with brown eyes....although Huskies are usually born with blue eyes. So, I think it is just a breed thing as far as being born with blue eyes.
