My Garden of Actors - November 25th, 2006 at 01:27 AM
Hope this isn't too long to post here.
My Garden of Actors
As I slumberously repose in my Garden
upon a sunny day,
My thoughts may wander far afield and
I Dream along the way.
I conjure up all sorts of Fancies;
any scene will do.
I set my Flowers to play-acting;
a lot, or just a few.
I may happen upon a Jungle scene,
my Tiger Lily's there;
My Zebra plant; the large Elephant Ears;
I wish I had a Bear!
Then I come upon a Golden Palace
with Guards all stern of face;
tall sentinels of purple Asters guarding
Queen Anne, in lace.
Also they guard her Ladies-in-Waiting,
what a silly sight!
Gossipy groups and clusters of Alyssum
dressed in pink and white.
The Dancers pirouetting before her Majesty
are skirted Hollyhocks,
with creamy Lady Slippers laced about their feet,
dancing among the rocks.
My thoughts stray farther away from my Garden,
touching upon the Heart;
Lovers, and Cupids, tiny pink Tea Roses
who vow ne'er to part.
My Bridal Veil takes center stage at a gala wedding;
Baby's Breath is there
in the brides bouquet of Lilly-of-the- Valley;
dainty, trembly little Bells.
Everyone attends this glorious event!
Sunny-faced Daisies,
and fat and rounded matronly Roses
with red, blushing faces.
But then I fly to a most jocular scene
and the Wee Ones appear!
A tiny gossamer Fairy dancing upon the Buttercups;
('tis only a Butterfly I fear);
Laughing little Elves, capering and winking
beneath the Toadstools
growing in clusters under the tall Bells-of-Ireland.
Oh! Such silly fools!
My mood grows serious as the scene quickly changes;
there's a Jack-in-the-Pulpit
leading his joyful Easter sunrise service;
a children's choir of Violets;
Serene Easter Lilies in their white choir robes
with Golden-Throated voices.
Even the Insects join in, humming and singing,
all in tune and boisterous.
The Evening now approaches with it"s quiet and peace
and my Garden lies at rest.
My Actors are tired, but they are all musing –
"Just which Scene was best?"
