He was 2 just before Christmas patches. This photo was taken when we first got him last September. And I am not sure whether he's smiling Tonya. I seem to remember he was just waiting for his ball to be thrown. He would certainly smile once could chase it though.

Oh, that's good because he's still a puppy and has lots of fire left in him. I bet he makes a perfect playmate and is a very active little boy. He's a "cutie" and I think you are both very lucky to have each other.

I have taken peaks around at them on the internet and really think I like that breed..

The size seems perfect... Not soooooo big that I can't get thru a hallway, *I used to have a 105lb Dobbie* and not soooooooooo tiny that you'd have the urge to mop the floor with it...
and short hair..

I really must stand up for Chewie. No he doesn't shed at all (we never noticed it) and yes he does have close hair which is not exactly cuddly. Although I must admit he does share our bed - but has never been the cause of any matrimonial disharmony. He just lies at the base. We used to have two border collies which were brilliant. But you needed a super powered triple suction vacuum cleaner. No more. If you want my advice for a totally crazy totally loving dog - get a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
PS He actually loves my nearest neighbors' (note my American spelling my spell checker won't let me spell it the English neighbours without red lining it) Cocker Spaniels. They are real cute (puppies) and I would love to post photos of them. But is that in the rules? They are not a member's dog. Boo-hoo.

I also was looking at a cousin to the dog that was in the Mel Gibson movie, Mad Maxx, (*I think he was a Dingo Dog*) This one was a more family orientated dog, Australian Shepherd.. that had longer hair...

There's one other dog, but can't for the life of me remember the name, that is also simila.

To have a dog like Chewie here in Ontario....he would have to be muzzled whenever he's outside, they are considered a threat here.

On the issue of 'Are Staffies fierce?' No, they are often confused with pit-bulls which have to be muzzled in this country also. Staffies were, in the 17th and early 18th centuries bred for fighting but they haven't been used like that for 200 years except by a few psychopaths that are outside the law (and they prefer pit-bulls). If given a lot of love they will give it back 10 fold. As an inspector from the RSPCA said when being interviewed on television a few months ago, 'A poodle can be fierce if it has idiot owners.'

I have yet to meet a Staffie thats been mean or a Rottie, the little ones can be the jumpy ones especially around kids!!
