I showed this about 10 days ago - ok, so I've since realized those white flowers are not geraniums, they're primrose.



What I'm thinking about now is that big hyacinthe down in the bottom of the pic.

It's all ragging and shedding now - it came from the 'bank'. They change their displays once every 6 weeks or so - one of the employees brings boxes of plants home to me to save from the compost heap.

This hyacinthe was an 'early' bloom, I guess - I'm wondering if I should cut it back, put it in the dark and let it sleep till mid-April, then re-plant it in the yard. Maybe I could get more blooms out of it.

It looks like there's a few stalks, so I would guess there's more than one bulb in there.

i would leave the greens on the hyacinth...that's how the bulb gets it's nutrients...and then just plant it when the soil is warmed up enough. you may not get any additional blooms this year - it should do just fine next tho!

Carly, you should introduce that banker to me! I could try my hand at nursing plants instead of wasting money killing them Those look beautiful!

I agree with everything the joclyn said.
The bulbs need the green stems for food for next year, so if you can keep them growing until you can get them planted outside, that would be great.

what zone are you in?

I live a bit north of Toronto, so I would say she's in zone 5. I like the hyacinth scent, but if there is too much I absolutely cannot stand it!
