I have assembled the most beautiful garden to match my absolutley perfect house. Let me give you a few details. The house is white stucco. The interior was designed to resemble the Titanic. Diamond Chandeliers, white piano, and marble staircases. It's truly something to be proud of (and my xmas bash is the perfect time to flaunt it!) The garden is the best part. A large white gazebo (like the one in the Sound of Music) there is a huge white marble fountain with lights around it. I put in a pool with a rock waterfall. All throughout the garden are streams and bridges with fish in the streams and every where I've planted a variety of colorful azelias and momosa trees. I'm so proud of my house... I designed it my house... what do you think?

Sounds great Stardust, when you going to post pictures?????

I'll post the pictures as soon as I get my new digital camera... sadly my old Canon has passed on to a better place.

Ok..I'll be waiting to see pictures...Have you ask Santa for a new camera??? I am sure he would get you one for Xmas LOL.

I hope you made arrangements to keep the momosa trees in check. They are very aggressive and you might loose many other plantings to them if you don't have a way to keep them from spreading. I'm assuming from the stucco that you are in a southern climate so you probably won't have to worry about them freezing and dying. I'm kind of hoping that it is cold enough here that all the ones that I have will die. If not I'll be drilling holes and putting salt in them come spring. I hate those trees. And I'm not fond of their smell either. But then I also don't like the smell of my tomato plants lol.

Also the momosa tree is a disease carrier and a home for certain types of beetles. I hate to rain on your parade this way but I always figure it's better to know what I am up against than find out the hard way when it is much more difficult to fix the situation.

I just thought the trees were very pretty in my garden. There are not my specialty and I probably should have done research on them. I had one in my yard when I was a kid and seeing it outside my window again brings memories of better days so I can hopefully keep them tame. Thanks for the advice though.
Comfrey- I did indeed ask Santa for a digital. His response was " You may find it in leather wrapping." So I'm very excited. ( btw, Santa is my bf since I'm no longer with my parents to put things under the tree)

You may like the momosa trees. Especially if it looks good in your garden. I love magnolias and weeping willows and I've had bunches of people tell me that I don't want them because of roots or leaves, but I like them so I plant them. Different strokes...

Certainly everyone has different likes and dislikes. It's just when a plant is outlawed in certain areas because it is that aggressive I think it is worth a heads up.
Posted By: stardust Re: Just Moved into a NEW HOUSE! - December 9th, 2005 at 08:01 AM
Yes... well we do indeed have our own likes and dislikes. I have an aquaintance whose brother's likes would be growing his own marijuana in his backyard. Lets hope none of us here do that.
Posted By: Bestofour Re: Just Moved into a NEW HOUSE! - December 9th, 2005 at 08:45 AM
Stardust, that is too funny. Probably not many of us here have grown it, but I'll wager a few have used it for "medicinal reasons."

TK, I think it's Bradford Pear Trees that can't be planted within so many feet of power lines in Charlotte because they are considered a "soft" tree or something like that. They break easily. Why are Mimosa's outlawed?
Posted By: Carly Re: Just Moved into a NEW HOUSE! - December 9th, 2005 at 02:44 PM
Certainly not! I wouldn't dream of growing marijuana . . .

Actually, I don't use it, but in my opinion? I don't see the harm in having a few plants unless it's an actual grow-op.

It's interesting to watch them grow.

I had a nice one in the 70's . . . the kids fed it a half glass of milk and it died.

There were some growing behind a garage in a place where I used to live - they don't look good once they've grown a bit though. Once they've been allowed to flower and leg out, they're useless as a drug anyway.

There are some bits that grow wild on our lot - I think some smart alec was throwing seeds there.

They are very very aggressive and very very hard to get rid of. They will literally take over an area and force out other growth. And then if there is a very bad winter they die and you are left with nothing but a root system that makes it hard to plant anything else. They also carry disease and make a nice home for bad bugs. There is bunches and bunches of information out there on the internet. The bloom is pretty so I looked it up boy was I suprised. I'm hoping it gets cold enough to knock out the 8 that sprung up on our property this year. I cut them down a number of times but they would just comeback within weeks. They are damaging the retaining wall even more than it was and eating the blacktop in the back parking lot. I guess because the state will be taking the building in the not to distant future the landlord doesn't do anything about it.

Boy TK, that is a mess. On another note, what will you do when the state takes your building?
Posted By: tkhooper Re: Just Moved into a NEW HOUSE! - December 10th, 2005 at 04:49 AM
I have no idea but I'm thinking about doing a bunch of camping.
Posted By: Carly Re: Just Moved into a NEW HOUSE! - December 10th, 2005 at 02:12 PM
Well, that's it - my plans for a marijuana patch are out.

Geesh! Can't do nothin', eh?

:-(

Oh yeah - and I forgot.

About that leather - sounds to me like you'll be getting a handbag and the camera will be in it.

We'll know in a little more than two weeks.

Good luck with it all.

Tk, you're so funny. Will you set up your garden at a camp site?
Posted By: tkhooper Re: Just Moved into a NEW HOUSE! - December 11th, 2005 at 05:58 AM
You bet'cha. There will be redwoods popping up in national forests all across the nation. And who knows what else that I've got in my box of seeds lol.

Your home and Garden sound lovely stardust. I hope Santa brings you the camera. We'd love to see pics. Personally I really want to see your Garden. I love looking at others to get ideas.

I want to see the house - the titanic set up. Jeff (the better half) will be interested in that one too - he's a Titanic nut.

Yep...I'm waiting too. Very curious.

Yeah, Leonardo - he ain't hard to look at, eh?

So DID you get the camera, or didn't you?

Unless you have unlimited funds, you might be better to buy on the Jan and Feb sales anyway.

And you might just as well go for the kind that takes moving pics and stills.
Posted By: stardust Re: Just Moved into a NEW HOUSE! - January 6th, 2006 at 07:30 AM
Yes, Yes I got the camera... Haven't taken pictures yet I'm still figuring it out. You will have pics ASAP!
Posted By: Carly Re: Just Moved into a NEW HOUSE! - January 9th, 2006 at 10:17 PM
Just read the instruction booklet - don't wait for the men in your life to figure it out for ya'.

Ha ha!

I should be talking . . . I get Jeff to set up everything for me.

Just got an MP3 player - I haven't a clue how to load it myself - he's doing all that jazz.

We'll look forward to those pictures! Rock on!

When I got my camera...I would read the manual...Then try what it said, I would look for things to take pictures of daily and it didn't take long to get the hang of it...Just try to learn on thing at a time until you have mastered everything you want to do with your camera.
