Petals to thorns


A view of beauty offers gifts to the eye
Petals scattered on a lover"s pathway
Leading to candlelit adventures of play
New beginnings like fresh fallen snow
Combining skin provides external glow
Slowly the petals fade and become torn
And left in their place is the remains of a thorn
The once silky touch replaced by wounds
That song of love can"t carry a tune
Inner warmth has turned to frost
A shattered dream a love is lost
Hopes of petals to return again
And repair the damage the thorns brought in
Take away the hurt and bitter scorn
To open the heart for petals reborn
