If the hand of friendship
Is extended to you,
There are several things
You just shouldn't do.

Don't cheat and lie
If you want to earn trust,
For an honest heart
Is surely a must!

If you're always taking
But you're never giving,
Then a lonely life
Is what you'll be living!

If all you can do
Is just whine and yelp,
People soon will tire
Of offering you help!

I've so often heard
When all's said and done,
If you want to have friends,
You first need to be one!
