I also Have AVG now got read of Norton had way too much trouble . Still have MacAfee for the time being also very happy with it . With AVG have not had any E-Mail virus come through. Free is not always good but this time it is and they also have this spam catcher thing and no adware which cuts out a lot of threats.

I use a combo of AVG, CleanUp! and AdAware. No problems on my computer since I have started this.

Loz that is the reason I got it. I have a grandson that is a boss in an software company told me to get it. Said his company has it on all of thiers and they have thousands of computers. If it is good enough for them I would be a fool to not use it. As soon as my MacAfee expires I probably wont renew it.

I had more headaches with McCaffee than with no Internet protection...but there's something not quite right with my computer, and I still have win 98. McCaffee would pop up a window saying "allow/block" everytime I did anything, even when it was a McCaffee program trying to start! I spent all my time clicking "allow" and it didn't do any good to check "always allow this program." mad

I use ZoneAlarm (free download) AdAware (also free) and SpyBot (also also free) and haven't had ANY trouble in the two years since I downloaded them. For virus protection I use Avast! (also a freebie)

I use a separate PC for a firewall, it runs IPCop.

It requires it's own computer, and you have to setup a network to work with it. i.e. switch and ethernet cables or even wireless.

I also have POPFile SPAM filter running of it mostly to protect the Wifes PC. I don't get SPAM.

She runs W2K and Avast AV on hers. I run Mandriva Linux on mine, I also have Privoxy, running on mine to block the ads.

I admit this may sound a bit extreme, but I downloaded a virus once and it took quite a bit of work to remove it.

My wife think I am nuts when it comes to Internet Sercurity.
