I fear your stoney, silent moods
More than an angry scold;
Withdrawn, aloof, indifferent,
Your heart turns icy cold.

A loving touch or warm embrace
Would ease my aching pain,
Yet I am met with nothing
But rejection and disdain.

I try so hard to win your praise,
To always do what's right,
And yet I always come up short,
Still lacking in your sight.

My faults and flaws are countless--
I can't deny this fact;
I never know what I should say,
Or even how to act.

I pray that you will understand,
And have compassion, too;
I need to know that you'll be there
When I reach out for you.
