I moved my garden this year to a new location in raised beds. My zucchini is starting to producing lots of veg. but when the zucchhini gets about 3 inches they start to turn yellow and die back.

Welcome Rose Tree! Wow! You're in the NE also, and you already have zucchini? Good for you! Your prob could be with pollination (or lack thereof). If the mommy flower (the one attached to the zuchini) isn't fertilized by a daddy flower (one NOT attached to a zuchini), it will just shrivel up and die. You can pollinate them yourself by rubbing the innards of a male on the innards of a female. I think this needs to be done in the morning, as that's when the flowers open. Hope this helps!

Rose Tree,
Can you tell us a little more about your
#1. Watering habits? Morning, late nights?
by a sprinkler system, drip?
#2. Do you have anything on top of the soil?
ie mulch or landscaped fabric???
#3. What kind of soil/dirt do you have???
Type ie; clay, loamy, etc..
or was it store bought and bagged???
ie; like Miracle Grow..
#4. What type of fertilizers are you using, if any?
ie; organic, chemical???

Answer those and that will help alot...

I generally water the vegetable garden at night after work by sprinkler about every 2 to 3 days depending on the rain and temp.
I have always put newspaper and then straw on top of the soil, I have being doing this for years with great success and minimal weeding.
I just moved the garden to new location in raised beds and purchased organic soil in bulk from the nursery.
I fertilizer with Miracle Grow time release pellets.
Thank you in advance for any help.

Have you done this
in the previous years too??

Have you seen any cucumber beetles??
Little yellow and black striped bugs.. mad
And has the soil been tested??? PH???

And where you moved your new gardens w/the raised beds....same area, same amount of sun??

Could be a mineral deficiency, lack of the
ability to absorb calcium????
Could be the Cucumber Beetle and the disease they spread...

let me see if I can find a picture or two...
I'll have to see if I can get Papito here,
he's always got some great pictures for us...

I have the same prob as discussed above. My zucchini are planted close (too close?). Could that be a reason for pollination problems? Been growing zuchs for a long time, but never had this prob.
