Well, we bought a 175 ft hose last year, and the nozzle broke so we were going to swap it out, but we couldnt get the $#*%(&% off! I decided to just cut the end off, and turn it into a soaker hose. You know how I spent my day...a hammer and nail, every 12" or so, for 175 feet LOL Now I'm wondering, should I bury it under the mulch or leave it on top? I dont like the way it looks exposed, but worried that covering will clog it up. Will it? I was using hardwood mulch, but will probably be changing to compost 'mulch' since it's free and looks good. Any advice? Thanks!

I don't know about that one Mary. But I like your idea. I know the bottle that I put in the soil does get clogged so maybe it would but then again with the water pressure behind it maybe not.

Mary, would filling the ditch line with gravel and putting some panty hose over the end part keep it from getting clogged? Just thinking off the top of my head.

Hmmm panty hose, that's not a bad idea. I was thinking along the lines of some kind of lose-weave tourniquet wrapped around each hole, but we're talking about 175 of them LOL I'm not so worried about the end, actually we were going to clamp the end, so the water just runs through the holes along the hose. I buried part of it yesterday, I'll keep an eye on it for 'cloggage' and see if it needs remidied...I'll keep you posted!

Thanks!

Hi Mary,

would you like to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and have fun at the same time...oh no,never mind,i just notice the date on your post and by now you ve for sure settle your problem ..sorry.

oh darn it,it was such a good idea that i m gonna tell you anywho..well i was gonna tell you to drink a bottlle of wine..and cut the cork in two ,put a piece each end of the hose...if you can find the end of the hose after a wine bottle emergency emptying.

well i guess it won t be that...so what did you do.

LOL Francine!!! Great idea - but you're right I did already solve my problem with some adjustable metal ummm clamps I guess they are. but it's working great wink The fun part is, because it's not completely covered, it will spray you as you walk by certain parts - now that would be fun after the emergency emptying of course laugh

i think you should try the emergency emptying just for the heck of it!

This was a cute exchange of ideas. Damn pantyhose will work for tons of stuff huh?

I was thinking wrapping landscaping fabric, but we have tons so for us it would be a cheap fix.

Cheers!
