I just did a walk around, the downstairs only. My wife has forty-one plants of all kinds. If I were to go upstairs the count would rise tenfold. She has a staghorn fern that needs it's own corner of the living room,I counted 31 fronds on it. The root ball has completely covered the peat block it is mounted on. Should I pass out cigars? Wifey has started more then a dozen babies off it. When I put in an opening tunnelled skylight she ooohed and aaahed and then she hung plants under it. Now I get a stiff neck trying to watch TV because I have to look around this plant I call Cousin "IT", ten foot ceiling and the thing drapes to the floor. Next to "IT" hangs a hoya that is about two foot around and hangs about six feet. Cactus by the score, some round some tall all very user unfriendly.
If I were silly enough to go upstairs there I would find the nursery for not only house plants but also flats of seeds started for the garden. Her Rubber tree could be tapped for sap, we may become the next Goodyear. I am thinking of maybe changing my name to George and investing in a loin clothe.
Did I mention the basement? Does a woman really need two horse feed bags full of glad bulbs? And does everybody hang thier geraniums upside down from thier rafters? And what the heck are the things she keeps in dry sawdust down there? She says that this is her hobby. That may be so but is she out of control or is she what they call an "Avid Gardener"? Do you guys have bins and bags of potting soil, vermiculite, stacks of pots, and grow tables in your spare bedrooms?

laugh laugh definitely avid gardener...

i don't have a spare bedroom, so, there is potting soil in the kitchen and bathroom, plants in the bathtub "over-wintering", pots & stuff under the sink in both bathrooms and the kitchen, etc...

wish i had the spare rooms!!

 Yup, definitely an avid gardener. Just not as bad a s my friend who turns three shower stalls into greenhouses from October 1 to May 1 every year. They only have 3 showers and 1 tub with 3 teenagers. And you thought you had it bad, LOL! wink

Oh for the room,

I just moved the furniture out of my living room. There is barely room for the food in my kitchen. All my window sills are full of plants including the window shelves I just installed. As well as my dinningroom table doubling as my potting table.

Has she asked for a larger greenhouse yet? I don't think she is an avid gardener until she does. But then I'm just a beginner gardener myself.

Try to focus on all the clean air you are breathing as those happy and diligent plants do their job for ya. You may feel a bit like you are smothering in "green" but you can rest assured you probably aren't also smothering in pollution!

Enjoy your jungle; I'm jealous!
