My internet friend

Sometimes we have friends that we'll never get to meet
no warm embrace to be felt or kiss upon the cheek.
And even though I can't hug you when you are feeling down
my warmest words are sent out to turn your day around.
Even though you can't reach out and touch me because
we are miles apart, please don't ever forget that you've
already touched my heart....
I always look forward to hearing all about your day
you always seem to have such interesting things to say.
So when you are feeling lonely
know you have a friend that deeply cares
and when you have great news
I hope you'll be inclined to share.
I know we've never met,
who knows maybe one day we'll get a chance.
Until that day my internet friend,
I'll be on messenger or email writing
to you and hitting send.

Crossing Over

I was walking home from school when I got hit by a bus
I heard people screaming and saying don't pick him up.
You'll hurt him worse than he already is, please wait for the
paramedics to come
The pain was so intense that my head was pounding like a drum.
I saw my mother arrive and I could feel her grief....
She ran up to the ambulance and jumped inside with me.

At that moment my vision disappeared, and I heard a gentle voice
whisper the following into my ear:

Please don't be afraid, your time here is done
You are leaving this world behind and coming with me now son.
I know you don't want to go yet, but wait until you feel my love
In just a few minutes we will be arising to the heavens above.

Now while he was whispering to me I heard my mother pray,
Please god spare my child, I'll do anything if you let him stay.
She held my hand tightly as though she was fearful to let go.
I think deep down inside she knew that God was taking me home.
I felt her tears fall on my face and I tried to say her name.
No words would come out as I tried to speak, to tell her that
I was safe...

At this point she had become quiet and then she said to me.
It's okay son, he just told me he was taking you home to live
with him in eternity.
I don't want to lose you, but I know you'll be in a better place.
I have to put my trust in him, and offer up my faith.
He tells me that one day down the road we'll see each other again.
I am turning you over to him now, we'll be reunited one day in heaven.

I felt myself starting to float away
and I said to the voice in my ear,
tell my mom that I'll always be with her, I want her to know that
I'll be near....You see a childs love for their parent is a bond that
will never be severed.
No matter how far away I am from her, she'll always be remembered.

With that my soul drifted away and as it went towards the light
at first I was filled with an overpowering fright....
but then a calm came over me like I'd never felt before.....
I was filled with peace and happiness as God opened
up heavens doors...

My friend my leaning post

Words can't even begin to express my gratitude to you, my friend

You've picked me up when I have fallen to the ground
I've been down so low but in you I found
A friend who is always a rock when times are bad
my leaning post that I thank God that I have
Someone who is always willing to give support
without letting me pity myself for too long and getting out of sorts
A person who has inner beauty that I can truly see
shining through the darkness and blinding me
You were give strong arms to hold me high
and words of wisdom to whisper when I break down and cry
A comforting hug and soothing words ease my spirit when I am down,
I just have to turn around and right behind me you can be found
I can't return to the place that I have come from
and you know this and you push me on
I face my fears even though I am scared
For I know that you, my friend, my leaning post will always be
around.

A Friends Love

When you are feeling at your worst in life
please call on me my friend.
I want to hold you up you see
and help you until you mend.

I may not always know what to say,
but I can always lend an ear.
I have two arms that hug very well,
so let me pull you near......

Please don't say you don't need my help,
what else are good friends for?
Don't you recall the countless times
I've leaned on you before?

So as your tears slide down your cheek
I'd be honored to wipe them away.
You are so special to me.
Please let me help you find your way.

And don't forget I'm always here,
in bad times and in good.
I'd never abandon you my friend,
I'll be beside you in life until the very end.

Thanks Miss Jamie......I had one published before but that was quite a few years ago and I can't find my copy of it.....Have to have an inspirational moment to write the poems....and that second one came out of nowhere....a lot of people think poems have to be really happy poems and they don't have to be at all.....Haven't tried to get one published in a long time though.

Awww Cindy.....we love our GH family don't we???? I'm right there with you....

Glad you all like them!!! You know it's funny, my dad writes poetry too....he has since he was a young man.....I always figured you'd get something like that from your mother, but surprise, surprise---it's my dad....and he writes really good stuff too! He's very intelligent.

If you look at my profile, you'll see the link to my writing forums - especially interesting is the Markets section - I work on this all the time.

You will see lots of poetry markets there.

Be cautious about places like poetry.com, poetry library thing - they're scammers that will give you nothing for your work and you won't see it in print until you buy books from them.

There are some good places - they don't pay a whole lot, some only a copy of the lit journal itself, but when choosing a place to submit your work, read the terms & conditions carefully.

There's nothing wrong with writing for magazines that don't pay, but just make sure they're not making money from your work and not paying you.

If you need help selecting a market for your work, gimmee a shout - I've slaved at this kind of thing for years and pretty well know my way around the publications.

That last poem, Loz . . . it's the kind of thing that you would send to Chicken Soup (when they have a call for poems). A lovely poem.
