wavey Hi Ladybug,

I use a lot of straw. It is a wonderful mulch for your vegetables, and can be used for compost too.

I have a very large vegetable garden,so I use a lot.

What I have (gleaned) wink buy it in the fall, when it is plentiful or free.Let it sit out in the winter,so when you use it in Spring and Summer no seeds will sprout.

About the molding,I've never had that happen. It gets wet sometimes but that not a problem usually.
On a windy day it's a plus for me if it's a little damp.

Well i still have them in a bale/wrapped up in the twine. I had one on top of the other, and it rained like two or three days and i hadn't set up my corner with the corn stocks, straw bale, ect.. so not sure if it is safe after I'm done using it for my corner/ decorations. i can use it for my garden?? hey Dee, wavey

sure, you can use it.Your soil and your compost will thankyou.

I know most of my neighbors,so I'm lucky, I get most of mine for free.

Do you have a vegetable garden? It is a great mulch.

I use lots of bales too. And don't worry about mold or critters or whatever. It's all part of the breaking down process. Here's a pic of some of my uses. This vege patch is less than 6 months old and is already benefiting from the straw. I try and buy 20 bales a month, whether i need them or not. They are cheap here. And pesticide free. (from my supplier). They really bring the soil to life, and are good in compost or as a mulch. [Linked Image]

You can use straw in your dogs house if it is outside....Or use it around the strawberries.

or any other animal bed.......It is great for planting a new seed grass.......Just cover and sprinkle with water and watch it grow.

Works good with flowers if it doesnt have weed seed in it.
