I happened to see a Hummingbird colored just like a bumblebee today drinking from some tubular flowers and then I noticed the antennae and multiple legs and I said, "What the Heck?!?!" A quick search on the Web revealed it to be a Snowberry Clearwing Hummingbird Moth! I had heard of, but not seen this creature. Everyone who sees it for the first time thinks they have discovered a new type of hummingbird or bumblebee or a hybrid cross between the two (as if that was possible!). Anyway here it is for your viewing pleasure.

Those are pretty cool, Thorny! I never even heard of them before.

Not QUITE as cute as the Hummers, though. lol. But I guess they'll do in a pinch. wink (Great shots, by the way, to both of you. thumbup )

I had some of them lil buggers early this year. I had never seen them before in my life. I thought I had some mutant species of hummer/bee out there. lol

That's so weird....My neighbor told me about hummingbird moths last year...well a few days ago she had some on her butterfly bush and was showing them to me....ever since then I've noticed a lot of them all over my sedums.....They are really neat little things.

Isn't the larva of that called a "Horn worm" someone told me that I got those all over my butterfly bushes.
