As I was watering the garden this morning, I was wondering....could I just bury my vegetable scraps in between the rows of my garden to compost and help fill the need for organic matter? Will it hurt our crop by robbing it of some nutrients or minerals or something?

It's best to do it between crops Dianna, but a little chicken manure, not much, just a sprinkle, in with it will help stop nitrogen drawdown.
Dig it deep enough that critters (if you get critters) won't smell it and dig it up.
Thank you, Longy. I guess I will wait til after harvest. I wasn't thinking about critters digging it up. We have been fortunate so far in not having coons and foxes and all digging in the garden and I sure don't want to give them a reason to now. It is hard enough keeping our little Angel from picking our vegetables.
