Though I have only been a member of this site a few hours, I have already made a few posts. The folks who have answered me have been nothing but kind and helpful. They've made me feel "right at home" And, I appreciate that!!

I am 45 yrs. old, married to my best friend in the world, live in the country in West Tennessee, been gardening all my life and enjoy fooling with honey bees! Due to bad health problems, my wife and I are both disabled and sometimes find it a real chore to take care of our 1.5 acres with it's flowers, garden, and honey bees. But, it is something that we both enjoy. And as long as we can get out of bed, we intend to continue it!!

I have no doubt that I will have plenty of future questions. And, I'd like to take this opportunity to say thanks in advance for the help that you all will lend. In return, if there is anything that I can help someone else out with, I'll gladly do so. But please remember this. I only have one functional brain cell and it misfires 80-85% of the time, so you will likely have to excuese me more than you use me!! ;>0

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Robert

Thanks Laura and Triss. I am equally glad that I found you guys! As for my wife "joining" us, she is quite welcome to do so. But, she thinks that computers are the rectum of mankind and that the internet is that rectum's hemorrhoid!! Well, that's the way she used to feel. Still feels that way a lot, but not as bad as she once did! She's beginning to learn that the web is actually used by some people (including me) for something besides porno and/or cheating on your spouse!! I've never been into that garbage and don't want it in my home or on my computer. I'm a simple guy. I like to fish, read, watch a good movie, eat popcorn, fried okra, and good ripe tomato sandwiches, and garden. When I can't do those things, I like to do the next best thing... talk about them!!:>)

Sorry, I got kind of "long winded" again. But, it's good to meet NICE people on line who share your interests!

God Bless,
Robert

All I can add there is that I love to cook and eat, and the next best thing is to talk about THAT!
If you know of a good place to fish, I'll be there in an instant! (Just as soon as I can get away. eek )
I'm 45 as well, my mom had a Jack Russell Terrier, tho' he now rests in peace...See? We're all a lot alike here! Glad you found us, and vice-versa. muggs

It is with gratitude in my heart that I bask in the warmth of the people in this forum. Thank you all for making me feel as though I've always been one of you instead of making me feel like the new kid on the block! :>)

Peppereater, there was a time when I loved to cook also. Loved to cook anything from boiled eggs to shrimp gumbo to veal parmesan. But, I have three problems that prevent me from enjoying it any more. First, I have such painful neuropathy in my feet and legs that I can no longer tolerate standing long enough to scramble eggs, much less anything else. Pain tends to take the fun out of a lot of things! Second, I had the recipe for virtually everything that I cooked in a spiral notebook and each recipe had its own notes about how I had changed it to better suit our needs and tastes. That 20+ year-old notebook was just one of many things that my wife and I lost when our house burned to the ground Dec. 3, 2003. And, I just don't seem to have the energy or heart to put another one together. Finally, I am so out of practice at cooking that I almost need instructions as to how to make a pot of coffee! :>0 But, don't worry. Between my wife and I, we can still whip up some beans, corn, taters and cornbread! And, that's the best kind of eats!! ;>)

As for a good fishing hole, I know where there are a couple... if you like bream or bluegill. And, I'm not talking "bait stealers" either! The ones that I catch are big enough to cover a coffee cup's saucer! Darn good when they are filleted, cornmeal battered and deep fried! But, all of my old catfishin' holes are owned by people that I don't know or their previous owner's kids own them. Either way, they won't let me fish any of them anymore. That's okay though... I love bream fillets!!

JV, a great big howdie from the Volunteer State!! And, I tip my hat to you sir!! As far as my wife and I are concerned, critters (not to be confused with varmints) are a lot like children... they can't fend for themselves and can't speak for themselves. Anyone like you deserves a double portion of God's special blessings! Keep up the good work!

Thanks again for making me feel such a part of you all.

God bless,
Robert
