Was presented with book by Peter Tompkins/Chris. Bird, title above. gab Don't know what to make of it. Am willing to suspend disbelief, but only up to a certain point.
Interested in reaction of forum members who may have run across it. Published in November 1972, so its been arround for a while. shk

I enjoyed reading "Secret Life of Plants" several years ago (don't tell Will shocked ). If you are interested in other esoteric plant books, I recommend any of the Findhorn books.

Thanks Weezie.
Post directed to inappropriate forum; figured someone would redirect it for me.
Re substance of post: when I was a lot younger I followed J. B. Rhine's work on parapsychology at Duke (what ever happened to him?); also was avid sci-fi reader and open to possibility of extraterrestrial life but........in my waning years it is a real stretch to take Tomkins/Bird thesis at face value. Exerpts that I have read carefully seem compelling and cogent but.............whole thesis boggles my mind. Call me "old timer" if you will.

Guess this is the time to share one of my wildflower poems . . .

AS THE WINDS BLOW - An Acrostic Rictameter

Winds blow
in from the east
nudging fruits from their pods,
down streams, o'er the woodland patches,
seeding with the ever - so - cautiously
bred; stamens spread - excite under
lightning's dev'lish blue flash.
Oh! Let the wild
winds blow!

If I run across it in BIG PRINT I may just have to look into that. I love to read but can't see the print anymore lol.

Carly, what an awesome poem. I absolutely love it. Never came across this book, but what an intriguing theory. I have to check it out!

Thanks, Mary - I write a lot of poetry.

Three were just published in Poetry Canada. I often write about plants (most always nature).

That poem was written as an acrostic-rictameter.

If you didn't notice, check the first letter of each line and see what it spells.

Nice! I used to write a lot but haven't in a long time. May be that'll get me sparked about writing again. Thanks for sharing - that's always a scary thing for me...it's so personal.
