Hello,

I have been an avid gardener for about 20 years, and will be starting our local Master Gardener program next week. My philosophy is I can ALWAYS learn more. The more I know, the more I know I need to know more...I look forward to receiving and sharing information with this group. We gardeners usually have a passion for what we do! It is truly habit-forming! wavey

Hi KDH wavey Welcome to the forum! You really caught my attention as your name is my exact initials. What a wild coincidence! Does it stand for your initials?

Hi KDH. Gardeners are compulsive people when it comes to their flowers and veges. I like that about us.

Hello Everyone!

Today I received my text book for the Master Gardener program. I was overwhelmed to say the least. When I finish, I will truly be someone that knows "something". I am very excited to be a part of this chat room. Please keep your questions and answers coming...I will participate frequently.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Kindest Regards,
Karen

KDH,

Welcome. Maybe you can teach some of us that dont know a whole lot as you learn. Sounds like a lot of fun and something I would love to do if I could find the time.

Well Triss,

I see that you have your hands full!! Kudos to you for being a part of this forum...When the children are off to college, with families of their own, you will be able to have your meditative moments in the garden...you are now learning, getting the required training to grow the lovely plants, veges, roses or what ever you want. Believe me, this day will come! I have two boys, three grand children...my grand babies will all be gardeners if I have anything to do with it.

Kindest Regards,
Karen

Karen,

Right now the good thing is that kids take naps and go to bed before I do, so I have time to relax and be a part of forums like this and my mommy board, not to mention time to weed and play in the dirt.

Another good thing is that ALL of my kids love getting dirty so they are all a HUGE help in my gardening excpet Mikey who just eats the grass.

I got my love of gardening from my mom and hope to also pass it to my kids, so far so good.

Hello Again Triss,

God Bless you! I got my love of gardening from my Grand Mother. She had gardens of corn, green beans, etc. Also, flowers beyond belief. If it weren't for her, I would have lived the "city life", and would not have appreciated the gifts that Mother Nature provided. Your children are so blessed to have you and the fact that you let them explore the wonder of nature!

We need more moms like you!

Kindest Regards,
Karen

Thanks Karen,

You made me smile this morning. One of the things I like to tell people who think I am crazy for letting my kids get filthy in the dirt is that God not only made dirt, but baths as well.

A little dirt never hurt anyone. There is a family that goes to my church that are beautiful people. They look perfect all the time. Mom, dad, son, and daughter. I've always loved to see what outfits they would wear and marveled at how well together they ALL look. Until Bible School. The mom helped with her little girls class. I did crafts. The mom ws so concerned that her daughter was going to get paint or dirt on her clothes. It was difficult for the child to do her crafts. It changed my perception of "perfect". Pefect means a little dirty now and then.

When i was a little girl we had a saying, 'God made dirt, dirt don't hurt', whenever we dropped food on the ground. We'd wash/wipe it clean , make the sign of the cross and then kiss it. After all that, we'd keep eating. I taught my little grandson the ritual just last week. Don't know whether that was a good thing or not, but hey...

Hey Guys!

Wow, I have been told that the Master Gardener Class in Tulsa is one of the very best!! That is a real honor, and if the tests, homework, lectures are any example, YES!!! It is no piece of cake. In fact the homework involves a great deal of research, and the tests are a real "bugger" if you know what I mean? idea I am doing well. The test last week, everyone failed. We have doctors, chemical engineers, etc. In fact the average score was 61. That tells you something? I don't see that we will have a test like that again. It was written by an attorney, she is the head of the Master Garders's foundation and admitted that her class was the worst since the inception of the program. Seems that she was trying to redeem herself by making us the worst class!! <img border="0" alt="[clappy]" title="" src="graemlins/clappy.gif" />

She didn't show her face after the test!!

Live and Learn!!
