Hi wavey

Hm.. Not sure whether this is the right place to ask about this. But, anyway, here goes... A few days back, I saw some beautiful Trumpet lilies (Crinum latifolium). The thing about them that puzzles me is the difference in colour of their anthers. On one plant, they're black. Then, I saw another one some distance apart, and this one has light yellowish anthers.

Does anyone know the reason for this?

I wonder if they get darker as the flower ages???

I think you're right alankhart. If you look at the pictures, the one with the black anthers is open wider than the one with the yellow ones.

The yellow should be pollen...so I'd think the other has already lost its pollen and is an older flower is all.They are pretty.

Hm.. Yes, most probably you're right - the other one is just an older flower. Thanks for solving the mystery! wink
