I live in south Florida and have a corner with palms, sand cordgrass, and huge Philodendron selloum's. They are slow growing, but are getting huge, really taking over the space (4 ft high with a few getting close to 5 ft).

Is there a way to prune them back to a lower level or will I have to start over. I hate to loose them as they are healthy as can be. The whole group has survived two hurricanes so far. I don't want to hurt them but the corner is beginning to disappear - a little too jungle like.

Please point me in the right direction, I'd like to do the work myself.

I don't really know, but I would guess they would react well enough to pruning. You could always try on one and see what happens. Probably if you cut the top part off you could reroot it and plant it farther back. The bottom part might produce one or more new stems. You could wind up with a forest! Cool!
