My amaryllis flowered in time for Xmas.It was a gorgeous cream colour with stripes of burgundy and I was lucky to get 8 flowers on the 2 stalks. The flowers have all wilted and dropped off. What do I do now?Can the bulb be taken from the pot ,dried and used again next fall?Any help is appreciated.

Yes, you can dry it up and use it again next fall. It should grow just fine[if not better] next year, as it is 'older'... laugh

before you dry it though, let it die back naturally. let the leaves get brown and all.

You MUST keep the foliage growing from now until around late August then stop watering and let the leaves die back. These are heavy feeders so fertilze evey other watering with say half strength Miracle grow or an equivilent. Put in cool dark place after the leaves die for about 2 months. You CAN let them grow year round but THEY will decide when to bloom.

Tom is right if you do not keep it growing this summer you will not get flowers next winter.

It is like your garden lilies the leaves it grows this summer will feed it so it will flower again.
