Here is a picture of a new purchase of mine. Isn't it funny looking? The bottom of the furry part is actually purple rather than red like the picture shows but the top is that rather bright red color.
These are the ones we always called cockscombs.
It is Celosia cristata.
Thanks Gardencrazy. It sure is interesting looking. I'm afraid to transplant it because the other celosia that looks like a feather quits growing when I transplant it. I want this one to get as large as it can. Can I harvest seeds from it? And how would I go about doing that. Do you know?
I don't know about harvesting the seeds, I never have tried.
